Turkish Airlines posts $2.2 billion operating profit in 2025, revenue crosses $24 billion

Turkish Airlines reported a $2.2 billion Profit from Main Operations in 2025, highlighting the resilience of its business model and steady growth despite geopolitical tensions, trade disruptions, and aircraft supply challenges faced by the global aviation industry.

The airline said its total revenues rose 6.3% year-on-year to $24.1 billion in 2025, supported largely by strong passenger demand in international and premium travel segments. In the fourth quarter alone, revenues increased 12% to $6.3 billion, while Profit from Main Operations grew 23% to $534 million compared to the same period last year.

Turkish Airlines expanded its fleet by 5% to 516 aircraft by the end of 2025 and carried 92.6 million passengers, while cargo operations handled 2.2 million tons, generating $3.4 billion in cargo revenue. Despite declining cargo unit yields due to slower global trade and tariff pressures, higher cargo volumes helped offset the impact.

Operational performance also remained strong, with EBITDAR reaching $5.7 billion and margin improving to 23.7%, exceeding the mid-point of the company’s long-term target. The airline also invested $6 billion during 2025, taking its total investments over the past five years to around $20 billion. Consolidated assets stood at $46.6 billion, with total employment across subsidiaries exceeding 101,000.

Commenting on the results, Chairman Prof. Ahmet Bolat said the company’s strong financial performance demonstrated its ability to adapt to changing geopolitical and commercial conditions through diversified revenues and strategic partnerships.

In Kolkata, the strong global performance of Turkish Airlines reflects rising demand for international connectivity from eastern India. Travel operators in the Kolkata market note that passengers increasingly prefer global hub carriers for seamless connections to Europe and other destinations, indicating growing outbound travel demand from the region.
