Ujjivan Small Finance Bank observes Vigilance Awareness Week, promotes integrity-driven banking

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank has kicked off its annual ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ from November 11 to 16, 2024, to highlight the importance of vigilance and ethical banking practices. This year’s campaign, titled “Watch Out for Each Other,” aligns with the Government of India’s theme, “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.” The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. M. A. Saleem, IPS, Director General of Police (CID), Karnataka, who lit a ceremonial lamp and delivered a keynote emphasizing that individual integrity contributes to institutional integrity. Dr. Saleem stressed the need for vigilance among bank employees, warning that negligence could expose the bank to financial liabilities.

Key executives, including Ms. Sudha Suresh, Independent Director and Audit Committee Chair; Mr. Sanjeev Nautiyal, MD & CEO; Ms. Carol Furtado, Whole-Time Executive Director; and Mr. John Christy, Chief Vigilance Officer, joined the event. Throughout the week, Ujjivan plans to conduct workshops, awareness programs, and quizzes across its branches to promote ethical practices and prevent fraud. Outstanding employees demonstrating high ethical standards will also be recognized.

In Kolkata, Ujjivan’s initiatives are particularly relevant as it aims to reinforce customer trust in a region known for its vibrant banking sector. With a growing customer base in Kolkata, Ujjivan’s focus on vigilance aligns with the city’s demand for transparent and responsible banking practices, ensuring heightened security for its customers.
