An unidentified elderly man was found dead in Itanagar’s F and G sector on July 18, 2024, prompting a police appeal for public assistance in identifying him. The man, estimated to be around 60 years old and suspected to be non-APST (Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe), was discovered in critical condition near a local shop.
The incident was reported to the Itanagar Police Station by Smti Hage Yarang, who observed the man’s deteriorating health. Responding promptly to the distress call at 11:00 AM, SI Tai Paming and the Itanagar PS team confirmed the situation. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, the man passed away at a nearby hospital around 12:30 PM.
Initial investigations revealed no external injuries, leading authorities to believe that the death may have resulted from starvation or natural causes. Efforts to identify the deceased included photographing the body, interviewing witnesses, and conducting an inquest with a magistrate present. The body has been transferred to the Mortuary RK Mission for further examination and identification.
