Former Tipra Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, along with leaders from District Councils across Northeast India, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, securing an assurance that the issues of indigenous people in the region will be addressed within a month.

Pradyot took to social media platform X to announce that the Home Ministry will form a committee dedicated to resolving the concerns of those living in the District Councils. “Met the Hon HM @AmitShah along with the leaders from the councils from the Northeast. He has assured us that within a month, issues relating to all the councils will be amicably addressed. A committee will be formed to solve issues relating to our people,” Pradyot posted.

The meeting followed a recent gathering chaired by Pradyot, which included all representatives and Chief Executive Members of the Northeast District Councils. During this meeting, he emphasized the importance of a unified agenda and collective voice to bolster the effectiveness and empowerment of the Autonomous District Councils.

“The primary goal of this gathering is to build up and strengthen the Autonomous District Councils, ensuring they are more effective and empowered to serve their communities. This collective effort aims to address common challenges, advocate for necessary policy changes, and enhance the governance and development of the Sixth Schedule areas,” Pradyot stated.
