Union Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu visited Champhai district on Thursday. He was welcomed by heads of offices and leaders of various NGOs with a programme hosted by DC Office, Champhai at the Circuit House. Sahu expressed gratitude for having the pleasure of visiting a beautiful district like Champhai, and thanked the organizers for putting together such a wonderful programme with entertaining performers. He reiterated the concept of unity and fraternity amidst our diverse cultural palette and urged the attendees to embrace their cultural identity while forging friendships and brotherhoods with people from all over India to foster unity. He assured the attendees of the Prime Minister’s commitment to development of the Northeast, as there are multiple projects and policies that are ongoing as well as upcoming that are currently benefiting people of the region.
Talking about the vision of One India, he urged the people of Champhai as well as the government servants to share in the beauty of the idea of One India – unified and strengthened under the roof of sustainable development and commit to making the Northeast a better place for all. The programme was hosted by Mr. Lalbiakfela, Additional DC, Champhai. There were two dance performances from Champhai Vengthlang YMA Cultural Troupe and a vocal performance from Sylvia Malsawmpuii.
The programme ended with Ngulzathuama, District Urban Development Officer, Champhai offering the vote of thanks. After the programme, theMinister interacted with beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM).
