Famous writer Chetan Bhagat’s comments about television actress Urfi Javed’s photos did not sit well with the diva. After the author’s video from a recent literary event went viral on social media, Urfi replied back on Instagram Stories. For those unaware, Bhagat said, “Hamara youth hai jo bistaro mein ghus ke urfi javed ki photo dekha raha hai.”
After Urfi shared a note against Chetan, the latter took place to make controversy in the social media world. Without directly naming Urfi, he said he was not criticizing her.
On Saturday, Urfi shared screenshots of WhatsApp chats that were leaked during the #MeToo movement. Confused netizens assumed that the chats shared by the Bigg Boss OTT fame were her texts with the author. In his tweet, he shared an explanation.
He wrote: “Have never spoken to/chatted with/met/ known someone where it’s being spread that I have done so. It’s fake. a lie.” The writer also added, “Also a Non-issue. Haven’t criticised anyone. And I also think there’s nothing wrong in telling people to stop wasting time on Instagram and focus on fitness and career.”
After sharing the screenshot to call out the #MeeToo alleged author, Urfi wrote a note on her Insta story. She tagged him and wrote, “Stop promoting rape culture you sickos out there! Blaming a woman’s clothes for the behaviour of men is so 80’s mr @chetanbhagat. Who was distracting you when you msged girls half of your age? Always blame the opposite gender, never accept your own shortcomings or faults! People like you are misguiding the youth not me. Encouraging men to put the blame on the women or her clothing when they are at fault.”
Today, Urfi’s name reached the trending tab of Twitter as netizens came out in support of her. Many Twitter users praised Urfi for bringing back Chetan. Some even shared memes to poke fun at the author.
