US Schools to Introduce AI Ethics Curriculum from 2026

The U.S. Department of Education has announced a new AI Ethics Curriculum that will be mandatory in public high schools from 2026. The syllabus includes topics like algorithmic bias, surveillance ethics, data privacy, and social media responsibility.

This initiative follows increased scrutiny of AI’s role in influencing politics, hiring, law enforcement, and education itself. Tech companies like Google and Microsoft will provide non-promotional learning resources under academic oversight.

Indian and Bangladeshi ed-tech startups have welcomed the idea, suggesting that regional CBSE and Cambridge curricula could soon adopt similar modules to prepare students for ethical tech leadership.
