Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi passes away at 60

Veteran Bollywood and television actor Javed Khan Amrohi passed away today at the age of 60 in Mumbai. According to reports, he was suffering from respiratory problems and was recently admitted to Surya Nursing Home in Santa Cruz where he breathed his last after lung failure.

Javed Khan Amrohi has acted in supporting roles in more than 150 Bollywood films. Some of his popular films include Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India, Chak De! India, Phir Hera Pheri, Coolie No. 1, Andaz Apna Apna, Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, etc. He was last seen in the Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutts’ Sadak 2 in 2020. He played Pakya’s role in this film. He acted in several Hindi TV serials and was also an active member of the theater group IPTA (Indian People’s Theater Association).

Javed Khan is best known as the commentator of Amrohi Lagan. His crowning moment in the film came when he shouted, “Hum Jeet Gaye” when Aamir Khan’s team finally won. In fact, this moment has become more well-known in recent years after becoming a famous meme on social media.
