VIDA launches long-range VX2 Plus electric scooter, enters Asia Book of Records

Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility brand VIDA has expanded its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of the new VIDA EVOOTER VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh, a long-range variant that has also secured a place in the Asia Book of Records for completing the ‘Longest Journey by an Electric Scooter’. Priced at ₹1,43,990 (ex-showroom, New Delhi, after applicable subsidies and offers), the new model offers an IDC-certified range of 187 km, taking VIDA’s VX2 lineup to four variants designed for different customer needs. Powered by dual 2.2 kWh removable batteries with a combined capacity of 4.4 kWh, the scooter supports 0-80% charging in 3 hours 30 minutes using a 1 kW portable charger, while DC fast charging achieves the same in 65 minutes. The scooter delivers a top speed of 90 kmph, 6 kW peak power and 26 Nm torque, along with Eco, Ride and Sport modes, a 4.3-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, OTA updates, 27.2 litres of under-seat storage and a combined braking system. VIDA also supports customers through a network of over 6,000 fast-charging stations and 700-plus service touchpoints across the country.

The record-setting achievement follows a 12,111-km, 52-day expedition undertaken by rider GirishShet, a Kolkata Knight Riders fan, who travelled from Bengaluru to Delhi via all KKR match host cities. The journey demonstrated the scooter’s long-distance capability, battery endurance and charging convenience. VIDA said the VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh will be available at authorised dealerships across India by the end of July 2026 and will also be offered with flexible Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plans. Speaking on the launch, KausalyaNandakumar, Chief Business Officer, Emerging Mobility Business Unit, Hero MotoCorp, said the new variant addresses growing consumer demand for longer range and faster charging while strengthening the company’s vision of making electric mobility accessible under its “GharGharEvooter” initiative.

Kolkata is emerging as an important market for electric two-wheelers, supported by rising fuel costs, expanding charging infrastructure and increasing consumer interest in sustainable mobility. The record-setting ride’s connection with Kolkata through the KKR host-city route is expected to enhance the brand’s visibility in eastern India, while the combination of longer range, removable batteries and flexible ownership options could appeal to both daily commuters and long-distance riders in the region.
