Voluntary retirement for unfit police personnel

Director General of Police (DGP), Assam G.P. Singh today has informed about voluntary retirement for habitual drinkers and those who are found unfit for the duty.

As per reports, the team has drawn a list of Police personal who are habitual drinkers and unfit for the duty, they are 680 personnel. According to the DGP these personnel will be provided voluntary retirement as they are found unfit for the duty.

“We already have a list of about 680 persons. However, to ensure that no name is added without logical basis, we have formed committees in battalions and districts, which will be headed by a deputy commandant or an additional SP-rank officer,” Mr Singh said.

The process of drawing up the list is being streamlined in such a manner so that “no wrong person” is offered Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) and hence, the process of finalising the names will take some time, G.P. Singh informed.

The list is drawn up especially for those who are habitual drinkers, those with extreme obesity and with charges of corruption against them.
