Weapons seized in Imphal East: Indian army and Manipur police join hands

In a successful joint operation, the Indian Army and Manipur Police have unearthed a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Imphal East district. Conducted on Sunday, the operation was initiated following specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of weaponry in the fringe areas of Imphal East.

According to an official release from the Ministry of Defence for Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh, the operation involved a comprehensive search effort. A joint team comprising Indian Army personnel and Manipur Police conducted extensive searches on July 7th, deploying specialized resources including an Army Explosive Detection Dog due to the challenging terrain.

The operation yielded a significant haul of weaponry, including a Heavy Caliber (70mm) Launcher, two 9mm Pistols, a 12 Bore-Single Barrel Gun, an Improvised Grenade Launcher, six Grenades, two Tube Launchers, along with ammunition and other war-like stores.”All recovered arms, ammunition, and war-like stores have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation,” the release confirmed.
