West Bengal contributors honoured at Voices of Harvest Awards 2025

Two contributors from West Bengal were honoured at PepsiCo India’s Voices of Harvest Awards 2025, recognising their work in sustainable agriculture and community development. Biswajit Sarkar from Alipurduar received the Young Agri Innovator Award, while Aamon Mahila Chasi Producer Company Limited from Nayagram, Jhargram, won the Community Impact Champion Award.

The awards were presented in New Delhi in the presence of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He said the government aims to make India a global food basket by improving farmer income and strengthening soil health. Aamon Mahila Chasi Producer Company Limited, with more than 3,000 women shareholders, has built a strong presence in Kolkata through its Jaibo Haat outlet, offering indigenous products and encouraging chemical-free cultivation.

Biswajit Sarkar, who also teaches in a school, has adopted digital tools to improve crop planning for potato, paddy, and maize, helping several other farmers apply technology in their fields. As Kolkata remains an important market for agro-based and organic products from rural Bengal, such recognition is expected to inspire more initiatives that link farming communities with consumers in the city.
