West Bengal Witnessing Continues Temperature Fall across the State

West Bengal continues to reel under the intense cold fog and low visibility in the isolated areas. The weather office has predicted that the minimum temperature will further decline in the next two-three days in the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended its weather alert till January 22 saying that the cold weather conditions in West Bengal continue as the temperature will hover below the normal limits.

Light to moderate rain is expected in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Kochbihar and Jalpaiguri in North Bengal. According to the meteorological department the rest of the districts will remain dry. However, in the next 24 hours, the night temperature may rise to 2-3 degrees. For the next three days the temperature may drop to 2-3 degrees. Moderate fog is also expected in the districts as the weather office said. On the other hand, the minimum temperature in Kolkata is 15 degree Celsius which is 1 degree higher than normal. The maximum temperature will be 26.2 degrees Celsius, which is 1 degree above normal.

In the next 24 hours, the night temperature may rise 2-3 degrees. Over the next three days the temperature may drop 2-3 degrees and is expected to drop further till the end of the week. South Bengal will also be affected due to the arrival of cold winds from the north and north-west. However, the temperature will rise again from Sunday. According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, there is a reverse cyclone in the Bay of Bengal due to which a lot of southern wind has entered the city which has increased the fog, increased the temperature in Kolkata. However, on Thursday the temperature is expected to drop to 15 degree again.
