Why is World Environment Day celebrated?

On this earth, all living beings, including humans, spend their time in the lap of nature from birth to death. This nature nurtures her child with the utmost love. Nothing that nature gives may be returned, but the beauty of nature becomes more and more naked due to human oppression. Celebrate World Environment Day by pledging to beautify nature this year.

History of World Environment Day
On June 5, 1972, the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was held in Sweden. World Environment Day has been celebrated on June 5 every year since 1973 to commemorate this day.

The theme of World Earth Day 2024
This year, the theme of World Environment Day is Land Restoration, Prevention of Desertification, and Alkalinity. 40 percent of the world’s land is being degraded every year, directly affecting half of the world’s population. The world’s drought-prone land area has increased by 29 percent since 2000 and could increase by more than three-quarters by 2050. This year, World Environment Day will be celebrated by re-greening these drought-prone areas.

Indus is at a point. A small step by you can make the future world beautiful. So on this Earth Day, make a promise to yourself that every small step you take can save nature.

Revitalize ecosystems: Since 2000, the number of drought-prone areas in the world has steadily increased. As a result of the constant cutting of trees all around, this number will increase in the coming days. You should plant at least 100 trees every year, through which you can revive the ecosystem.

Your Role in Climate Control: The Earth’s climate is constantly changing right now. The climate is changing as a result of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. If you and those around you can spread awareness about the ill effects of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, the climate may be somewhat under control.
