With an exuberant celebration The National Sports University (NSU) in Imphal, Manipur marked its 6th Foundation Day

Recently The National Sports University (NSU) in Imphal, Manipur, marked its 6th Foundation Day with an exuberant celebration graced by esteemed guests and dignitaries. Actually the chief guest for the occasion was Sujata Chaturvedi, IAS, Secretary (Sports), MYAS (GOI). In fact the guests of honour included Akash Jha, Chairman of Commonwealth Youth for Sports Development and Peace, S Lokeshwor, Sports Promoter; Arjuna and Padmashree Awardee N Kunjarani Devi; Arjuna Awardee and former Indian Football captain O Bembem; Arjuna Awardee Judoka L Sushila; Olympian Ksh Thoiba, and Olympian and K Chinglensana. In reality the celebration commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr L Dibamani Singh, Registrar, NSU before the Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof Usha S Nair unveiled the 1st edition of the University newsletter “ABHYAS”. Actually the ceremony proceeded with the felicitation of Olympians and Arjuna Awardees and other guests, recognizing their outstanding contributions to sports, said the Registrar of NSU in a press note.

During the celebration, the university announced the initiation of academic as well as sports scholarships for deserving students at NSU and felicitated all the eligible students excelling in academics and sports, it said which is actually good. Also The Vice- Chancellor presented the annual report, acknowledging the Ministry for its unwavering support towards the university’s growth, it said. With it Akash Jha meanwhile praised the commendable work done by the university in promoting athletes and sports courses, including support for para-athletes, it said. In reality Sujata Chaturvedi expressed her admiration for NSU’s six glorious years of establishment and praised the Vice Chancellor and the staff of NSU for their commendable job. She also took note of State athletes’ representation in the Olympics and other international sporting platforms, it said.
