Popular YouTuber Madan Kumar has been arrested for allegedly live-streaming online games, including PUBG, with vulgar and obscene conversations with women.
The cybercrime wing of the Chennai Police arrested Madan on Friday from a relative’s home in Dharmapuri. The city police’s Central Crime Branch also arrested Madan’s wife Kruthika, who was the administrator of the YouTube channels on which gaming videos with foul language Madan was using towards women were being uploaded, the police said.
Meanwhile, the Madras High Court dismissed an anticipatory bail petition filed by Madan, as the police had already taken him into custody in Dharmapuri even before the hearing of the case.
The Crime Branch had received over 100 complaints against the YouTuber. The police have registered FIRs under five different sections of the IPC, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
The police informed, “Toxic Madan 18+” was the name of the YouTube channel and it had 8 lakh subscribers. Madan and Kruthika, natives of Salem, have completed Electronics and Communications Engineering. The couple is parents to an 8-month-old baby.”
