Adversity Strengthened Faith in Rule of Law, Says Gautam Adani Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said the recent dismissal of the US criminal case against him and his nephew Sagar Adani reinforced his faith in the rule of law and strengthened his belief in upholding commitments during difficult times. Speaking to employees and partners, Adani said the experience left him with humility rather than a sense of triumph. Reflecting on the challenges faced by the group since the Hindenburg Research allegations in 2023, he highlighted the importance of values, trust and responsible decision-making. He recalled the group’s decision to withdraw its ₹20,000 crore follow-on public offering in 2023 despite the issue being fully subscribed, saying, “Trust is greater than any legal right.” The US case, filed in November 2024, involved allegations that Adani and others agreed to pay bribes to secure solar-power contracts and misled US investors. Adani and the group denied wrongdoing. On August 10, a US federal judge dismissed the criminal charges after the Justice Department sought to withdraw the case. Adani said that throughout the legal proceedings, the group remained focused on its businesses, with employees, suppliers, contractors and partners continuing to fulfil their responsibilities. He said the episode reinforced the belief that enduring confidence is built by honouring commitments and doing the right thing, particularly during adversity.
