All Eyes on Dharmanagar as Tripura By-Poll Vote Counting Begins

The stage is set for the counting of votes for the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election in Tripura on Monday with necessary measures and security arrangements put in place by the administration.

The Assembly seat had fallen vacant following the death of former Tripura Speaker Bishwabandhu Sen in December last year, and the by-election for the seat was held on April 9. According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the counting of ballots of the by-poll is scheduled to begin at 8 am.

Returning Officer and Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Debjani Chowdhury stated that the counting process would be carried out under strict supervision and in accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines. To ensure smooth conduct of the counting process, prohibitory orders under Section 163 have been enforced within a 100-meter radius of the counting center.

The venue will remain under tight three-layer security arrangements. CRPF personnel have been deployed at the counting center to maintain security and prevent any untoward incidents. Officials said all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the counting is conducted peacefully and efficiently.
