AM/NS India launches new heavy steel plate brands for infrastructure, manufacturing

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has launched two new heavy steel plate brands, STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR, targeting the growing requirements of India’s infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, energy, transportation and heavy engineering sectors. Developed at the company’s plate mill facility in Hazira, Gujarat, the products use advanced rolling, heat-treatment and metallurgical technologies. STRUCTROMAX is manufactured using Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Processing (TMCP) and is designed for applications including bridges, high-rise buildings, offshore projects, railways and wind energy. The company said the product offers high weldability, toughness, load-bearing capability, corrosion resistance and fabrication performance.

WELDSTAR comprises ultra-high-strength steel plates aimed at applications such as cranes, mining equipment, transportation systems and offshore projects. According to AM/NS India, the range can help reduce equipment weight, increase payload capacity, improve fuel efficiency and lower lifecycle costs while maintaining safety and durability. In Kolkata, the launch could be relevant to the eastern region’s infrastructure, engineering, transportation and industrial projects, where demand for high-strength and application-specific steel plates remains important. Greater availability of advanced domestic products could also support fabricators and equipment manufacturers seeking efficiency and durability.

Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President-Sales & Marketing, AM/NS India, said the products would expand advanced heavy plate options for Indian engineers, fabricators and manufacturers. AM/NS India said its heavy plate products are Green Steel Certified with a 3-Star Rating under the Ministry of Steel’s Green Steel Taxonomy.
