Amazon has launched its delivery-in-minutes service Amazon Now in Midnapore, offering customers access to tens of thousands of products across groceries, personal care, fashion, beauty, home and kitchen, small appliances and other categories.
The service includes everyday essentials such as fruits and vegetables, milk, bread, cooking oil, ghee, biscuits and confectionery. Amazon said demand in Midnapore is also showing a growing preference for premium products, with premium chocolates, dry fruits, personal care and home care products witnessing strong demand.
In Midnapore, the launch could strengthen the city’s rapidly evolving quick-commerce and digital retail segment by giving consumers faster access to both essential and premium products. The mix of daily necessities and higher-value categories also indicates changing purchasing patterns among urban consumers.
Srikant Sree Ram, Everyday Essentials, said the early response in Midnapore has been strong. He said Amazon Now has crossed $1 billion in annualised gross sales in India, with orders doubling every quarter since launch.
Amazon Now has expanded to more than 60 Indian cities and towns through over 750 micro-fulfilment and urban fulfilment centres and is targeting 100 cities by Diwali. Customers can also access Amazon Now deals during the Amazon Great Indian Festival beginning October 8, including eligible SBI card discounts and additional savings for Prime members.
