B. Borooah College expands academic offerings with integrated teacher education programme

B. Borooah College (Autonomous) has announced the launch of its four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) from the 2026–27 academic session, strengthening its academic portfolio while responding to the growing demand for professionally trained teachers under India’s evolving education framework. The programme, to be offered in partnership with Government Banikanta College of Teacher Education, will provide B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. dual-degree courses, enabling students to complete both qualifications within four years instead of pursuing them separately.

The integrated curriculum combines subject knowledge, pedagogical training, classroom exposure and professional preparation, allowing graduates to become eligible for teaching positions at the higher secondary level while retaining the option to pursue postgraduate studies such as M.A. or M.Sc. Admissions are open through the Assam Samarth Admission Portal for the 2026–27 academic session. To support students from across the country, the college has developed separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. Located in central Guwahati, the campus enjoys convenient connectivity through rail, road and air, making it accessible to students from Assam, the Northeast, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and other states.

In Patn, the launch is expected to widen higher education choices for students in Bihar seeking an integrated, time-saving teacher education programme. With increasing demand for skilled educators and nationally recognised qualifications, institutions offering dual-degree pathways are attracting greater attention from students and families in Patna. The availability of residential facilities and improved connectivity to Guwahati could further encourage cross-state enrolment, strengthening educational linkages between Bihar and the Northeast. The launch coincides with B. Borooah College completing 83 years of academic excellence. The autonomous institution holds an A++ grade with a cumulative grade point average of 3.62 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, the highest accreditation score achieved by any government-sector higher education institution in Northeast India.
