Bandhan Bank marks 11 years with 2,000th branch milestone

Bandhan Bank on Sunday marked its 11th anniversary by opening its 2,000th branch at Egmore in Chennai, taking its total number of banking outlets across India to 6,400. The expansion has positioned the bank among the top three private sector banks in terms of its banking outlet network, according to the bank. It currently operates across 35 of the country’s 36 states and Union Territories and serves more than 3.2 crore customers.

The bank also launched mBandhan Lite, a simplified mobile banking application aimed at making digital banking more accessible for its microfinance customers. The application offers Aadhaar-based onboarding, account tracking, loan repayment facilities, access to statements and certificates, chatbot assistance and multilingual support in English, Hindi and Bengali. Bandhan Bank Managing Director and CEO Partha Pratim Sengupta said the launch of the 2,000th branch reflected the scale of the bank’s growth and its efforts to bring banking services closer to customers across different geographies.

He added that mBandhan Lite would help make essential banking services more accessible to microfinance customers. As of June 2026, the bank had a deposit base of Rs 1.65 lakh crore, while its advances stood at over Rs 1.56 lakh crore.
