Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has despatched a present of the flavour of the season – mangoes from Rajshahi, 600 kilos of it – to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, hitting the perfect ‘sweet spot’ in overseas diplomacy.
Representatives of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission on Monday went over to Banerjee’s Kalighat home on Monday to hand over the gift, delicately wrapped and packed in cartons to maintain freshness.
Separate groups also went over to the New Delhi residences of President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with similar cartons. The fruit was additionally despatched to those who obtained the Mukti Juddha Samman and Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim.
