BHIM Payments App links Diwali transactions to education support for underprivileged children

BHIM Payments App has launched the third edition of its ‘Meethi Diwali’ campaign in partnership with civic and developmental organisationGoonj, aiming to support the education of underprivileged children through everyday digital payments.

Under the initiative, BHIM Payments App will contribute towards providing school kits to children in need of learning support for every seventh transaction made by a user on the app between October 19 and November 8, 2026. The campaign encourages users to make routine digital payments while contributing to a social cause.

Gaurav   Kochhar, Chief of Business at NPCI BHIM, said the initiative seeks to connect digital payments with children’s education by helping provide essential learning materials. He added that the campaign reflects the belief that small, everyday actions can create a meaningful difference.

Anshu Gupta, Founder and Executive Director of Goonj, said the partnership would connect everyday technology with citizen participation and help children receive essential learning resources with dignity.

Mehul Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of SoCheers, said the campaign aimed to extend the spirit of giving beyond the festive season by turning routine digital transactions into an opportunity to support others.

The initiative combines Diwali celebrations with educational support, highlighting the potential of digital payment platforms to encourage social participation.
