A successful liver transplant was performed at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Friday. The liver transplant surgery has marked the beginning of a new chapter in the state’s healthcare sector. This complex surgery, which lasted for about 16 hours, was completed successfully. This was disclosed today by Minister Ashok Singhal at a press conference.
It is worth mentioning that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state’s Health Department had taken steps in 2025 itself towards building liver transplant and allied medical infrastructure.
