Birla Fertility and IVF enters Mizoram healthcare scheme, opening new opportunities for affordable treatment

Birla Fertility and IVF has been empanelled under the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme (MUHCS), enabling eligible couples to access specialised in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment at its Guwahati centre with government-supported treatment costs.

The partnership with the Mizoram State Health Care Society will also facilitate specialist fertility consultations through outpatient department (OPD) services in Aizawl. Eligible couples can approach the Chief Medical Officer’s office in Aizawl for referrals and authorisation before accessing treatment in Guwahati.

Abhishek Aggrawal, CEO of Birla Fertility and IVF, said the initiative would help reduce financial barriers to fertility care. Dr Kalpana Jain, fertility specialist at the Guwahati centre, highlighted the importance of early diagnosis, awareness and access to specialised consultations. The centre offers IVF, intrauterine insemination (IUI), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and other fertility services.

In Aizawl, the empanelment could expand opportunities for local diagnostic providers, outpatient consultations and reproductive healthcare services. Government-supported treatment may also ease out-of-pocket expenditure for eligible households and reduce travel costs associated with initial specialist assessments. The initiative could strengthen regional healthcare access while connecting Mizoram patients with advanced fertility infrastructure in Guwahati.

The programme aims to improve affordability, accessibility and timely diagnosis for couples requiring specialised fertility care across Mizoram.
