BJP holds massive protest outside Kejriwal’s residence, demands reduction of fuel tax

Amid rising fuel prices, the Delhi unit of the BJP on Saturday staged a huge protest outside the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, traumatic that VAT be reduced on fuel.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first reaction to rising gas prices, had said some states had not reduced gasoline taxes. He asked these states to decrease taxes now.

He said, “States like Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Telangana, Maharashtra, Kerala and Jharkhand did now not limit tax on fuel, and should do it now.”

“Centre decreased the excise obligation on fuel costs closing November and also requested states to reduce tax. I am not criticizing everybody however request Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu to decrease VAT now and supply benefits to people,” he said.

The Congress had before slammed the Union authorities over the inflation difficulty and asked what it used to be doing to convey down the fees of fundamental commodities which have been grinding the households of frequent people.

He said states like Karnataka and Gujarat reduced VAT on fuel and exceeded on the benefits to people, in spite of the go hurting their treasuries.
