Chennai experienced heavy rain overnight due to the conditions as a prelude to the forming of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal. At least 24 people have died and several others fell ill after consuming suspected spurious liquor in Gopalganj and West Champaran districts of Bihar, where total prohibition is in place, in the last two days. Thirty more people have tested positive for Zika virus in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, taking the total number of those infected in the district to 66.
