The Cyclonic storm Gulab, that was over north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha, weakened at 2:30 am over north Andhra Pradesh and is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards, weakening further into a depression during the next 6 hours, informed the India Meteorological Department on Monday. The cyclone made landfall late on Sunday evening. India records 26,041 new Covid cases, active cases at 2,99,620, lowest in 191 days

India logs 26,041 new cases of Covid, along with 276 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Monday, the country saw a total of 29,621 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.78 per cent and total recoveries to 3,29,31,972. The total active cases of COVID-19 in India came down to 2,99,620, lowest in 191 days. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, presently, at 0.90%. Cyclone Gulab began its landfall process on Sunday evening, the India Meteorological Department said. The system is likely to cross North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur as a cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 75-85 kmph gusting to 96 kmph during the next three hours.
