The Uttar Pradesh government on November 24 approved the draft of a stringent law to deal with religious conversion for the sake of marriage, which BJP leaders refer to as “love jihad“. The Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday imposed an indefinite statewide curfew to combat coronavirus after it was found that many people defied the lockdown orders. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said the curfew will come into force in all 12 districts of the hill state at 5 pm on Tuesday. He made the announcement at 3.15 pm after the district authorities in Una, Kangra and Mandi had already imposed a curfew to contain the spread of the disease. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with chief ministers of states and union territories on Tuesday via video conferencing, news agency ANI reported. At the meeting, the prime minister is expected to review the situation in worst affected states, which include - Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal and Rajasthan - and have been witnessing a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases and emerged as new hotspots.
