Bravery of Unsung Arunachal Pradesh Heroes Recalled on Komsing Day

The second edition of Ke:míng Longa (Komsing Day) was commemorated with great patriotic spirit at the revered Riné Dé:ré in Komsing Kumku, Siang district on Tuesday. This day, known as Insurrection Day, honors the bravery and resilience of the unsung heroes who fought during the Anglo-Abor Wars against British colonial rule. The observance specifically marks the historical event of March 31, 1911, when Lt. Matmur Jamoh assassinated British officer Noel Williamson, an action that precipitated the Fourth Anglo-Abor War. Arunachal Pradesh’s Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ojing Tasing, who served as the chief guest at the event, emphasized that Ke:míng Longa serves as a reminder of a past characterized by sacrifice, courage, and unity, paying tribute to the strength and legacy of the ancestors. The event also featured notable attendees including MLA Tapi Darang, Deputy Chief Councillor PMC Kamin Lego, Councillor Rahul Tamuk, ZPM Rebo Block Nonong Jamoh, Mandal President 35-Pangin Tani Taki, PRI representatives, and various other dignitaries. Additionally, a walkathon from Karo Dé:ré to Riné Dé:ré garnered significant public participation, reflecting the community’s engagement with the historical significance of the day. The programme was organized by the Komi Gumin Development Committee.
