Calcutta High Court Grants Relief To BJP Leader Suvendu Adhikari

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday stayed proceedings against Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari in criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in the state.
Saying that the FIRs were registered on silly charges to oppress him, Adhikari moved the high court seeking repeal of the cases against him.

Justice Rajasekhar Mantha stayed proceedings in all the criminal cases against the Leader of Opposition till the disposal of his petition before the court.

The BJP leader’s lawyer said that though there was an prior order of the high court that no forceful measures can be taken against him without its permission, fresh cases have been lodged against the Leader of Opposition on silly bases.

Opposing the prayer of Adhikari, the state reported that he is not complying with investigation process in the cases filed against him and has not presented himself before concerned investigating agencies despite notice.
