Chief Minister praises Kuki Inpi Manipur’s positive stance on NRC at city convention”

Chief Minister N Biren Singh praised the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) for their recent decision to support the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur, viewing it as a potential catalyst for long-term peace in the state. He expressed these sentiments during an event at the City Convention Centre where benefits under various schemes were distributed and new programs launched.

Addressing the gathering as chief guest, CM Biren highlighted KIM’s statement accepting the NRC under certain conditions. He emphasized the importance of dialogue to resolve existing issues and achieve lasting peace, urging the Kuki community to engage constructively, even suggesting discussions with the central government if necessary.

“I see the KIM’s decision positively. Let’s discuss and resolve this matter. My intention is not to harbor ill feelings towards anyone but to address issues like drug trafficking, poppy cultivation, deforestation, and illegal immigration for the future of our state,” stated CM Biren Singh.

Reflecting on the sacrifices made during past conflicts, CM Biren Singh praised those who had suffered, calling them martyrs of the state, and emphasized the BJP government’s efforts in fulfilling longstanding demands such as the removal of AFSPA and the implementation of ILP.
