Chinmaya Mission dedicates Maa Soundarya Chinmayi Mandir to people of Tripura

Marking 75 years of its global journey, Chinmaya Mission on Tuesday dedicated the Maa Soundarya Chinmayi Mandir in Agartala to the people of Tripura, positioning the temple as a centre for spiritual learning, cultural engagement and community welfare.

Inspired by the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya and Swami Chinmayananda, the temple has been established as part of the year-long Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Mission. The initiative aims to promote spiritual reflection while spreading the wisdom of Soundaryalahari among the wider community.

Alongside the temple project, the Mission has also launched a free school for underprivileged children in the region, including orphans, children of single parents, landless labourers and families earning below Rs 10,000 per month. Founded on Rathasaptami last year, the school currently supports 100 students and plans to admit 25 more children annually.

The initiative is being led by Swami Mitrananda, with support from local volunteers and various Mission wings active in Tripura. The organisation also plans to expand its presence across all eight districts of the state through temples and educational institutions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mohan Bhagwat, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Tripura Governor N. Indrasena Reddy and Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, along with religious leaders and members of Tripura’s royal family.
