Coke Studio Bharat drops ‘Bulleya Ve’, blends Sufi legacy with emerging voices to drive music engagement

Coke Studio Bharat has released its second track of Season 4, Bulleya Ve, drawing inspiration from the timeless Sufi philosophy of Bulleh Shah and his spiritual guide Shah Inayat. Following the success of its opening track Ae Ajnabee, the new release explores themes of ego, separation, and spiritual surrender, presenting a deeply personal journey of self-realisation. Bulleya Ve narrates the emotional arc of Bulleh Shah’s relationship with his murshid, where a moment of arrogance leads to distance and silence, eventually culminating in humility and reunion. The track captures this transformation with a minimalist yet evocative soundscape.

The song introduces Ashok Maskeen, a mill worker from Jalandhar, whose raw vocals bring authenticity to the composition. He is joined by Madhur Sharma, who lends emotional depth, and Swarit Shukl, who helms the restrained production, allowing the narrative to take centre stage. Shantanu Gangane of Coca-Cola India said the track reflects an inner journey shaped by humility and connection, while Navneet Sodhi of Universal Music Group for Brands highlighted its blend of emerging talent with a timeless Sufi narrative.

Artists involved emphasised the song’s simplicity and emotional honesty, noting the creative freedom offered by Coke Studio Bharat. In Kolkata, the growing popularity of Coke Studio Bharat tracks reflects a rising appetite for fusion music rooted in classical and Sufi traditions. With Bulleya Ve, listeners in Kolkata are expected to respond strongly to its soulful storytelling and minimalist composition, further strengthening the platform’s reach among younger audiences seeking meaningful, culturally rich music.
