EVMs to Be Sourced from Madhya Pradesh for April TTAADC Elections; Preparations Underway in Tripura

As preparations pick up for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), election authorities have decided to bring Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from Madhya Pradesh for use in the polls, sources said. The decision is part of a wider effort to ensure that all arrangements for the April elections are completed well in advance. Officials said the focus is on proper planning, secure handling of election materials and smooth coordination between states. As part of this process, senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission visited Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Friday to review arrangements related to the storage and security of the EVMs. The visiting team included Deputy Secretary Sanju Kumari and Under Secretary Priyanshi Bhanwar. During their visit on January 30, the officials inspected proposed district-level warehouse facilities where the machines will be stored once they arrive in Tripura. They closely examined the infrastructure, including access control systems, storage rooms and security measures, to ensure that the EVMs can be kept in a safe and tamper-proof environment.

The officials also held discussions with the district administration regarding the transportation of the EVMs from Madhya Pradesh to Tripura. Sources said the talks focused on ensuring safe movement, proper coordination between agencies and timely delivery so that the election process is not disrupted. Special attention was given to logistical planning and security arrangements, as the machines will need to be transported over a long distance. Officials stressed the importance of following election guidelines at every stage, from dispatch to storage and final deployment. The inspection was carried out in the presence of Sepahijala District Magistrate and Collector Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, along with Additional District Magistrate and other district-level officials.

According to sources, the visit was part of a broader review of district preparedness ahead of the TTAADC elections. Further decisions on logistics, warehousing and inter-state coordination are expected after consultations between the concerned authorities in the coming days.Elections to the TTAADC are scheduled to be held in April. With the poll date drawing closer, political activities and campaign-related programmes have begun to increase across the autonomous district council areas. Election authorities said preparations at the administrative level are being carried out in a phased and careful manner to ensure free, fair and smooth conduct of the polls.
