India reports massive daily spike rate of new cases

DCGI gives nod to Sun Pharma to market molnupiravir for COVID-19 treatment

 On Tuesday Sun Pharma said, its subsidiary has received authorization for emergency use from the Drugs Controller General of India to manufacture and market a generic version of MSD and Ridgeback's antiviral drug molnupiravir under the brand name Molxvir in India. The recommended dose of the drug is 800 mg twice a day for five days.The duration of treatment of molnupiravir is much shorter compared to other therapies which is a significant advantage. 31 patients out of 54 who were infected with the new coronavirus variant Omicron in Maharashtra till now  have been discharged from hospitals  on Monday.
