Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti attacked the BJP through her address on the party’s foundation day in Srinagar on Thursday and accused the ruling party of politicizing the national flag.
“If you have to hoist the Tiranga, do it on a thousand sq kms of land that China grabbed from us in Ladakh. But you have politicized this flag as well,” Mufti said.
The development comes after the BJP held its first-ever tricolor rally on Monday at the separatist stronghold of Lal Chowk in the metropolitan center here to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the 1999 Kargil war.
The flag-off event near the historic ‘Ghanta Ghar’ (clock tower) at Lal Chowk was held amid tight security as the entire place was sealed once and security forces comprising senior officers were present in large numbers.
