Team India faced a major setback on Day 5 of the second Test against Sri Lanka as Ravindra Jadeja was forced to leave the field after experiencing discomfort in his right heel at the SSC Cricket Ground in Colombo.
Jadeja appeared to be in discomfort while walking and decided to walk off the field. Before leaving, he collected his cap from the umpire, while Prasidh Krishna completed the over.
Sarfaraz Khan was brought onto the field as India’s substitute fielder. Sarfaraz had joined the squad as Sai Sudharsan’s replacement and has previously served as a substitute fielder for India, including during Rishabh Pant’s absence after his shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka continued their strong fightback in the second Test, with all-rounder Sonal Dinusha once again playing a key role. At the time of writing, the left-hander was batting on 91 as Sri Lanka extended their lead to 163 runs after India enforced the follow-on on Day 2.
Dinusha has been one of the standout performers of the series and has now scripted a unique record against India. He became the first Asian batter to score 50 or more runs in each of his first four Test innings against the Indian team.
The 24-year-old began his Test career in impressive fashion, scoring 100 and 84 in the first Test in Galle. He followed that up with a 103 in the first innings of the ongoing Colombo Test. Dinusha then continued his remarkable run in the second innings, bringing up another half-century in 99 balls during the morning session on Day 5.
