The national competition of IndiaSkills 2021, organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the nodal agency for skill and entrepreneurship development, working under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), commenced on 7th January at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. On Monday, Tamil Nadu government released detailed guidelines on the conduct of Jallikattu events ahead of Pongal festival in the state. Only 150 bull tamers will be allowed to attend the annual bull chasing event. All participants must provide negative RTPCR test results done within 48 hours of the event. On Monday the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) informed in its bulletin that the country registered 4,033 cases of Omicron. In the last 24 hours, 410 fresh cases on the new COVID-19 variant have been reported in India. Of the total Omicron cases recorded 2,481 are active and 1,552 have recovered or migrated. Maharashtra continues to have the maximum number of Omicron cases in the country.
