Japan International Cooperation Agency Partners with IIFL Home Finance to Boost Financial Inclusion and Housing in India

IIFL Home Finance Limited has secured a significant $150 million loan agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) aimed at bolstering access to affordable housing finance for low-income women across India. This strategic partnership is designed to expand homeownership opportunities specifically tailored for women belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections and Low-Income Groups, with the broader objectives of significantly improving living standards, fostering women’s economic empowerment, and advancing overall financial inclusion throughout the country. Implemented as part of a robust co-financing arrangement involving the Asian Development Bank and major private financial institutions, including MUFG Bank, the capital secured through this initiative will be systematically on-lent by IIFL Home Finance to facilitate home acquisitions for women residing in urban and peri-urban regions. By focusing heavily on gender-inclusive financial access, the project addresses critical socio-economic gaps, enabling female borrowers to build long-term security and asset ownership that traditionally remain out of reach. Ultimately, this collaboration underscores a shared commitment by international financial agencies and leading Indian housing finance institutions to drive sustainable development, support inclusive urban growth, and empower vulnerable populations through targeted financial interventions that create lasting positive impacts on communities nationwide.
