Shakti is a remote border village in the Zemithang circle of Tawang district. The area is home to local communities as well as yak-grazing communities and lies in a strategically important frontier region. The Indian Army has frequently conducted medical and civic action camps in Shakti and nearby areas, providing healthcare and other assistance to residents and pastoral communities.
Road connectivity in Tawang and other frontier areas remains important for both civilian movement and logistical access. Landslides during periods of heavy rainfall have previously affected important road links in the region, with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) carrying out clearance and restoration work.
