The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura held a high-level organisational meeting on Wednesday to formulate its strategy for the upcoming elections to the Village Committees under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
The Village Committee elections are scheduled to take place on September 28.
The meeting was chaired by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santosh and attended by senior party leaders, including National General Secretary and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister Manik Saha, BJP Northeast in-charge Sambit Patra, Co-Coordinator Rajib Babbar, state in-charge Rajdeep Roy, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee and state BJP president Abhishek Debroy.
Chief Minister Manik Saha said the discussions centred on strengthening the party’s organisational network, expanding its connect with voters and finalising programmes and priorities for the election campaign.
Saha said the party would focus on issues affecting people at the grassroots level, particularly their everyday concerns in the Village Committee areas.
“The issues in the Village Committees are different, and people have different problems that need to be addressed. We have to solve their day-to-day problems and earn their trust and confidence,” he said.
Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said the party had prepared a detailed blueprint for the polls and would deploy its organisational machinery across the ground.
“Our team will work and a blueprint has been prepared. Every election is different. For us, even a small election is as important as a big election,” Deb said.
Deb also highlighted the presence of B L Santosh at the meeting, saying it demonstrated the BJP’s seriousness about issues concerning the Janajati community.
He said Santosh’s visit reflected the party’s commitment to understanding the concerns of the tribal population and working towards resolving them.
BJP leaders expressed confidence that the party’s grassroots workers and organisational cadre would intensify their efforts on the ground and strengthen the campaign ahead of the Village Committee elections.
