In a major step to help Meghalaya's youth, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced the Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme in his budget speech. This flagship program would help 80,000 students in the state starting in the upcoming fiscal year. The program would provide post-matriculated students with an annual payment of Rs 6,000 to assist with their educational costs.
