Militant Cadre of Banned PREPAK Outfit Arrested in Imphal

Security forces continued combing and search operations in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Sunday as efforts to trace missing persons in the area remained underway. According to official sources, search operations were carried out in the hill ranges located northwest of Leilon Vaiphei and Kharam Vaiphei villages in Kangpokpi district. Authorities said security personnel are continuing operations in the area as part of the ongoing mission to locate the missing persons.

Officials, however, did not disclose further details regarding the number of personnel involved in the operation or the identities of those missing. The latest operation comes amid continued security deployment and heightened vigilance in parts of Manipur, where law enforcement agencies have been conducting regular search and area domination exercises in vulnerable districts.In a separate development, security forces arrested an active cadre of the banned militant outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak during an operation conducted in Imphal East district on May 17.

The arrested person was identified as Laishram Jivan Singh, 38, a resident of Langmeidong. He was apprehended from Khabam Lamkhai Makha Leikai under the jurisdiction of Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district.
