Mizoram faces ASF crisis, financial help requested

The Mizoram government has formally requested financial assistance from the Central government to support pig farmers severely impacted by the ongoing African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak. State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister C Lalsawivunga highlighted the crisis during a meeting with animal husbandry and veterinary ministers in Odisha. He stressed that the ASF outbreak has inflicted significant financial losses on pig farmers across the state. Assam Rifles seize drugs and contraband worth Rs 1.64 crore in Mizoram

On September 9 and 10, four separate operations led to the seizure of Heroin No. 4, foreign-origin cigarettes, beer, and Areca Nuts. Eight suspects caught in Mizoram drug operation

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Mizoram authorities arrested eight individuals in Aizawl and seized 220 grams of heroin and 105 kilograms of ganja. Among those apprehended are two individuals from Cachar, Assam, one from Pherzawl, Manipur, and one from Aizawl. The ganja, reportedly smuggled from Meghalaya and Tripura, was recovered during joint operations by excise officials and Assam Rifles personnel. All eight suspects have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and further investigations are underway.

Mizoram raises petrol, diesel prices by Rs 4 per litre
