Montra Electric, the electric commercial vehicle arm of TI Clean Mobility Pvt. Ltd. under the Murugappa Group, has expanded its footprint in eastern India with the inauguration of its first electric small commercial vehicle (e-SCV) dealership in West Bengal at Howrah, Kolkata. Established in partnership with Next Drive Mobility, the new facility will function as a one-stop centre for sales, service and spare parts as the company seeks to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing electric mobility market.
The launch comes as Montra Electric’s EVIATOR fleet crossed 1,000 vehicles nationwide. Its EVIATOR 350L, introduced in January 2025, has captured over 30 per cent market share in the 3.5-tonne e-SCV segment in FY25 within 12 months. The dealership was inaugurated by Saju Nair, CEO, e-SCV, Montra Electric, along with Dealer Principal SaurabhKhetan, DevanshAgarwal and SudarshanSarda. The EVIATOR portfolio includes the E350, E350L and E350L+ variants, offering payload capacity of 1.7 tonnes, a 10.3-ft loading deck, over 200 km real-world range, CCS2 DC fast charging to 80 per cent in around 60 minutes, extended warranty of up to seven years and operating costs of about ₹2.35 per kilometre.
In Howrah, the city’s thriving logistics ecosystem and growing e-commerce-driven last-mile delivery segment make it one of eastern India’s most promising markets for electric commercial vehicles. While diesel-powered fleets still dominate West Bengal’s commercial transport sector, Howrah and neighbouring Howrah have witnessed comparatively higher adoption of electric small commercial vehicles, creating a favourable environment for manufacturers to expand. Industry observers believe the new dealership will enhance customer access to dedicated sales and after-sales support, helping accelerate the transition towards cleaner and more efficient commercial mobility in the region.
