The death toll has risen to 1,127 in the last 7 days due to the devastating floods and landslides triggered after a glacier collapsed in the Himalayan region on the Nepal and China (Tibet) border. The administration sent an emergency alert to local residents via mobile message only 38 minutes after the incident occurred. Due to the fast-flowing river and difficult geographical terrain, the water level rose unprecedentedly within just a few minutes.
