The death toll has risen to 1,127 in the last 7 days due to the devastating floods and landslides triggered after a glacier collapsed in the Himalayan region on the Nepal and China (Tibet) border. The administration sent an emergency alert to local residents via mobile message only 38 minutes after the incident occurred. Due to the fast-flowing river and difficult geographical terrain, the water level rose unprecedentedly within just a few minutes. As a result, victims have expressed anger saying there was not enough time to shift to a safe place. Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha and Tanahun districts of Nepal are the worst affected. The Nepal Army and Indian rescue teams are carrying out swift rescue operations. According to initial investigation, this terrible natural disaster was caused by rapid melting of glaciers and rockfalls due to the impact of climate change.
