Timber smuggler shot dead in East Karbi Anglong

In a major development, a suspected timber smuggler has been shot dead by a team of forest department officials under Silonijan Range in East Karbi Anglong on Thursday. As per reports, the team of forest department officials confronted a group of timber smuggler inside the Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary and demanded that they surrender. Manipur journalists continue strike

Newspapers in Manipur failed to hit the stands for the second consecutive day on Friday as journalists continued their cease work strike against threat by armed rebel groups. News broadcasting by local cable networks also remained suspended. WB sanctions Rs. 1100 crore for Meghalaya Integrated Transport Project

Cop hurt in clash with protesters in Manipur

A policeman was injured in a clash with protesters staging a protests defying curfew imposed in an area in Imphal on Tuesday. Police had to resort to firing tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has imposed the load shedding from Tuesday across the State due to a “fund crunch” in the power department or probably caused by extraneous issues.
